Gap Year
A gap year is a provision that allows for a temporary and voluntary suspension of doctoral training.
Duration and Conditions
- Duration: One academic year
- Can only be requested once during the doctoral journey
- Does not count toward the total thesis duration
Valid Reasons
Gap years may be granted for:
- Parental leave
- Medical reasons
- Professional opportunities
- Personal circumstances
How to Apply
- Submit a written request to the EDST administration
- Provide supporting documentation
- Obtain supervisor approval
- Await committee decision
Students on gap year maintain their student status but are exempt from registration fees.
